You will be asked to complete some pre theory work giving you an understanding of what will be taught in the class. You will also be able to watch the real-time video of the treatment you will learn which you can follow during your practical.
What is the difference between short diploma courses and VTCT courses?
Short diploma courses are for therapists wanting to work mobile or on friends and family. They are recognised within the UK and an insurable qualification with certain insurance companies.
VTCT courses are internationally recognised qualifications that involve multiple choice end tests and assessments but hold a higher recognised status and will enable you to work in a salon or spa.
Why is this course run over 3 days and not 1 day like some others?
This course gives you knowledge on how the body functions, the benefits and effects of massage and how to perform a massage on the full body and back neck and shoulder to a high standard. It is impossible to cover (and would not be safe to treat someone) including all of the content in one day to a professional safe standard of working.
How is the award achieved?
You will come to the academy and start the course learning about the anatomy of the body and how the body functions when performing massage as well as the practical knowledge of full body massage. You will be set some case studies on body massage to do at home. You will then return it to your tutor for marking.
You will come back to the academy for Day 2 where you will show us how you are getting on with the case studies you have been doing and show us a full body massage. We will then show you the back, neck and shoulder massage for you to go away and do some more case studies on your friends and family.
Once complete, you will return to the academy for a final assessment where you will show us a full body and back neck and shoulder massage.
You will be graded a pass, merit or distinction based on your competence.
You will also have access to the online video with a complete body massage routine to refresh your memory.
